During this phase, the project manager will meet with the project team regularly, and ensure that stakeholders are updated in accordance with the communication plan. It is the role of the project manager to ensure all tasks are completed according to the agreed timelines and allocated resources. Any changes will prompt a review of the plan, which in turn might require updating.
This phase runs alongside the Executing Phase. The project manager will continuously monitor the plan with the project team against several possible metrics, such as time, resource, spend, scope, etc. This will allow the team to quickly manage any deviations from the plan, escalate any issues, and respond accordingly, to give the project the best chance for success.
Upon successful completion of the project, we will manage the closure of the project. At this point the project manager can release project resources, communicate the final status of the project, and any follow-on activities. It is important that a review, or Lessons Learned activity is conducted, to support future projects, and to feed into performance reviews.
